Fort Meade Run Series
The 2017 Fort Meade Run Series returns April 22 with the Earth Day 5K at Burba Lake Park.
The run series is open to all military services and ranks and to civilians. Pets are not permitted.
Each run starts at 8 a.m. and features a 1-mile walk.
All runs include male and female divisions in various age categories.
- Earth Day 5K: April 22, 8 a.m. at Burba Lake Park
- Run to Honor 5K /10K: May 20, 8 a.m. at Murphy Field House
- Army Birthday 5K: June 10, 8 a.m. at the Fort Meade Pavilion
- Tank Corps Joe 5K: Oct. 28, 8 a.m. at the Fort Meade Pavilion
- Turkey Trot 5K: Nov. 18, 8 a.m. at Murphy Field House
Runners without DoD ID cards must be a guest of an authorized runner. They may only participate if a family member or friend can register them for the run under the host’s name and drive them onto the installation.
Running groups must preregister for each run.
Preregistration fees cost $18 for an individual; $54 for a family of three to six participants; $96 for a group of seven to 10; and $70 per person for the entire series.
Registration for the entire series closes April 11.
All preregistered runners will receive a T-shirt.

Towson Military Appreciation Game
Join the Towson University men’s and women’s lacrosse programs as the teams recognize men and women in the U.S. Armed Forces and local first responders and emergency medical personnel.
Men’s Lacrosse Military Appreciation Game and the Women’s Lacrosse Hometown Hero Game are Saturday at Unitas Stadium.
Towson Men’s Lacrosse vs. University of Denver is at noon.
Towson Women’s Lacrosse vs. University of Oregon is at 2:30 p.m.
All service men and women, first responders and emergency medical personnel will receive four complimentary tickets to both games.

Youth Sports registration
Youth Sports is now registering for the 2017 spring season.
Spring sports include soccer, NFL Flag Football, MLB PlayBall, lacrosse, T-ball Clinic, NFL Flag Clinic, Lacrosse Clinic and Ready Set Run.
Volunteer coaches are needed for all sports.
Volunteers receive free training and receive a discount on sports fees for their children.

The “Spring Into Fitness Aerobathon” will be held April 8 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Murphy Field House.
The free, fitness workout sampler provides an opportunity to sample a new exercise program with a wide variety of instructors on hand to guide newcomers.
Fitness segments will be abbreviated and flow from one night into the next. Work out for the full three hours or take breaks as needed.
Classes are suitable for all levels. Fresh fruit and snacks will be provided.

Youth boxing classes
Child and Youth Services will offer boxing classes for ages 6 and older Monday and Friday evenings at the Youth Center.
This new program will teach boxing techniques.

The Exceptional Family Member Program’s next bowling event is April 19 from 5:30-7 p.m. at The Lanes.
The event is held the third Wednesday of every month.
Exceptional family members bowl one game at no charge with free shoe rental.
One discounted game and shoes at a cost of $2 each are available to other family members.
