A stellar year at Meade for academic success

Greetings Team Meade.

It is hard to believe how quickly the school year has passed and is coming to an end. It has been a fantastic year filled with experiences that have brought our community closer together.

The Fort Meade School Liaison Office would like to applaud every student, parent, educator and volunteer who has worked diligently toward the educational success of this school year.

As your school liaison officer, I am so proud to serve such a wonderful community made up of so many extraordinary individuals.

Over this school year, we have all worked together to overcome any challenge standing in the way of student success — and for that I am the most proud.

It is my deep belief that the hallmark of a great school community is to continuously work to improve learning for each and every child, and that is what our schools strive to do.

Academically, this has been a stellar year. Each school on the installation made it its No. 1 mission to ensure the academic success of our military-connected students — and they succeeded.

As a result of this big academic push, each school has shown an increase in academic test scores, student semester grades, graduation rates and even an increase in student/parent/community school involvement.

Our schools have also notably participated and placed in several academic STEM-focused (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) competitions.

Overall, this was an outstanding year because our students were continuously supported and given the opportunity to display their intellect along with their boundless talents.

As we venture into summer break, please remember this time of year is very important in the academic lives of our students. If students continue to learn over the summer and reinforce their knowledge, they will be well ready and equipped to achieve the academic goals of the next school year.

In closing, I’d like to take this opportunity to congratulate the students of the Meade High School graduating class of 2017.

I would also like to extend my grateful thanks to all the local school communities for the way they continue to support our military students and their families by going above and beyond what is required.

Additionally, those military units at Fort Meade who take part in the Anne Arundel County Public Schools’ Partners in Education (PIE) program have been extremely effective in adding to the depth and breadth of the learning experience for students in the Meade cluster of AACP schools.

As partners in education, you played a great role in making this year a success.

I wish you all an excellent summer, and I look forward to more successful years ahead.

Team Meade!
