This year’s National Night Out, which will be held Aug. 1 from 6 to 9 p.m., is another opportunity to play the APP-Titude Challenge and to enter a drawing to win an Amazon Echo, courtesy of Corvias.
To play the APP-Titude Challenge, first download the Fort George G. Meade App to your personal smartphone or mobile device.
At 6 p.m. on Aug. 1, the tasks for the challenge will be posted on the bulletins tab within the app. Players who complete all four tasks by 8 p.m. will be eligible to enter the drawing for an Amazon Echo and many other prizes.
“It was a popular game during the Red, White & Blue Celebration, so we thought we’d bring it back for National Night Out,” said Chad Jones, Fort Meade Public Affairs officer.
“Most people are surprised to learn that Fort Meade has an app. They’re even more surprised to learn how useful it is.”
Tasks in the APP-Titude Challenge engage players to move through the app and see all it has to offer.
Jones said the free app is the best way to stay immediately informed about Fort Meade safety issues, traffic and gate information, and important events happening on the installation.
“The Fort Meade app is a two-way communication tool,” Jones said. “It can be used to report issues like suspicious activity, stray animals and other items of concern around the installation.
“Reports submitted through the app get to the right people and ensure faster response.”
To download the app, search “Fort George G. Meade” from any app store and download it to your personal phone or mobile device.
Players can get a headstart by downloading the app early and learning how to navigate through it before the game begins Aug. 1.
In addition to the Amazon Echo, players can also win free appetizers at the Brass Lounge, bowling at the Lanes, Mission BBQ sandwiches and more.
The challenges are fun and easy and can be completed by anyone with access to the app.
