Fort Meade’s weekly farmers market made its 2017 debut May 17. This year, the Directorate of Family and Morale, Welfare and Recreation is coordinating themed events for the markets, which are held Wednesdays from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Pavilion through Sept. 27. Last week’s opening featured a magic show by Wonder Bunny Magician and balloon sculpting. Upcoming events include a fitness expo, a visit from the Maryland Zoo in Baltimore, and Bring-Your-Doggie Day. FMWR is also setting up picnic tables to enjoy lunch on the spot.

Icees go well with the summer heat and will be a staple at the farmers market. Food truck specialties also include Greek, Cajun, barbecue, seafood and pizza. (Photo by Bryan Spann)
